CID

Updates & changelog

Stay on the latest version, or go back to an earlier one.

When a new version of CID is released, the app tells you: a window shows what's new, once per version, and a CID x.y.z is available card stays at the bottom of the sidebar until you update. Close the window with Later and the card is still there. You can also check any time from Settings → About CID → Check for updates.

Windows: update in place

  1. Click Update now. CID downloads the new version in the background and shows its progress. You can close the window and keep working.
  2. When it's ready, click Restart and update. CID installs the new version and opens again. If you don't, it installs the next time you close CID.

If workflows are running on this computer, CID asks before restarting, because restarting stops them. Updating in place works from CID 1.3.0 on; if a download fails, the window offers the installer instead.

macOS and Linux

  1. Click Download installer. CID picks the right file for your computer: the .dmg for your Mac's chip, or the .deb on Linux. You can also use the download link.
  2. Close CID, then install it: drag the new CID into Applications on macOS (replace the old one), or sudo apt install ./cid_*_amd64.deb on Linux.

Your projects, workflows and run history are kept — they're stored by CID's API, along with the projects shared with you. Settings saved on this computer (local folders, shells, working folders, artifacts) are kept too.

What changed

The changelog lists every release, newest first, with its notes. In the app, Settings → About CID → Release notes opens it too.

Installing an earlier version

Pick any version from the version list in the download section, then run its installer. Older releases are kept indefinitely.

CID's update check only reads public release information from GitHub. Nothing about your projects or runs is sent.
